TMPR partnered with Working Options to deliver its first-ever Grow Getters Taster Day, welcoming 15 and 16-year-old pupils from St Cyres School.

The interactive session introduced students to the world of marketing through a hands-on workshop and an inside look at TMPR’s story, services, and approach.

he day gave pupils practical insight into creative thinking, client collaboration, and campaign delivery – sparking interest in potential career paths and highlighting the skills needed to thrive in the marketing industry.

Solution

By partnering with Working Options, TMPR connected with local secondary school St Cyres and provided the team with suggestions for workshop activities and challenges aligned with the appropriate key stage curriculum, including the requirement that at least one challenge be interactive.

From the suggestions provided by Working Options, we set out to make the taster day as interactive as possible, incorporating activities and icebreakers that encouraged discussion, creativity, and teamwork. Pupils took part in an interactive marketing challenge, working together to develop and present ideas, while also gaining insight into our roles, the agency’s different teams, our marketing and PR services and TMPR’s growth – offering a clear view of what a career in marketing can lead to and what life is like at an agency.

We collaborated with Working Options to create a survey for pupils to share feedback on the taster day, helping us understand what was most effective and valuable for them.

Outcomes

The first Grow Getters Taster Day proved to be an engaging and memorable experience for the pupils, with strong participation in both the icebreaker and the group marketing challenge. Students demonstrated creativity, teamwork, and enthusiasm, producing imaginative product concepts and confident presentations to their peers.

Survey feedback confirmed the day’s success: 89% of pupils reported feeling more empowered to seek career-related opportunities and said the session helped them put their employability skills into practice. Anecdotally, several students shared that they left with a clearer understanding of the roles available to them and would now consider marketing and PR as a future career path – meeting our goal of sparking young people’s interest in the industry.

The partnership with Working Options not only ensured alignment with the curriculum but also helped create a programme structure that balanced fun, learning, and real-world insight – laying the groundwork for future educational engagement initiatives under the Grow Getters programme.

“We were absolutely delighted to collaborate with TMPR as they delivered a fantastic Taster Day for local young people through their Grow Getters programme. For many of the students, this was their first opportunity to step into a professional environment, and TMPR went above and beyond to make it a meaningful experience.”
